Fake Source: Douyin “Godeye100.” Real Source: One Man Wolf Pack — U.S. Copyright Office-Registered.

CGTN: “We Truly Value Your Work”… While Stealing It

⚖️ Case Study ⚖️

CGTN (China Global Television Network) — the international arm of China Central Television (CCTV) admitted using our Suriname drone footage without authorization.

The footage was reproduced across CGTN's YouTube channel, official website, and Twitter/X account, under the pretext of “sourcing” it from a TikTok account. When confronted, CGTN apologized in writing and claimed to “take full responsibility.” Yet, once informed that resolution must include all CCTV and CCTV+ infringements under one global settlement, they went entirely silent — mirroring the same pattern of bad faith already seen with CCTV and CCTV+. All evidence and CGTN’s written admission are preserved.

Legal action will now be consolidated in the United States, with additional jurisdictions expressly reserved.

💥️ What happened

Meanwhile, CCTV copyright infringements remain ongoing across their platforms to this day.

🎭️️ Sourcing games: A random TikTok account is not a license

CGTN named the supposed source of our copyrighted footage within their production as a random Douyin/TikTok account (“Godeye100”):

⚖️ That is neither a license nor a legal defense.

Our footage is original, authored, and registered with the U.S. Copyright Office:

⚖️ “Found on social media” ≠ permission. Period.

🤥️ Hypocrisy, documented

CGTN’s own Terms of Use loudly proclaim respect for copyright, forbidding unauthorized copying and distribution — while their own production lifted U.S.-registered footage and republished it globally across multiple platform.

They began their email with “We truly value your work”, and ended it with silence the moment accountability was requested.

🧱 They’ve now joined the #GreatWallOfSilenceAndShame — the wall already built by CCTV and CCTV+.

“We sincerely apologize for the unauthorized use… we take full responsibility.”CGTN (Sep 6, 2025)
“After an agreement is reached, please withdraw the YouTube claim.”

👉 Reality: No offer. No reply. No accountability. Once the global settlement was required, the door slammed shut.

⚖️️ Why this matters — and why CGTN is on the hook

🟥 Our Suriname footage is U.S. Copyright Office registered, exposing CGTN to statutory damages up to USD 150,000 per registered work, plus actual damages (unpaid licensing fees, reputational harm, emotional distress) and attorney fees and court costs — where applicable by law.
🟥 CGTN maintains a U.S. presence in Washington, D.C., and the infringements were published on U.S. platforms (YouTube, Twitter/X), establishing clear jurisdiction.
🟥 CGTN operates as part of the same conglomerate as CCTV and CCTV+ — liability will therefore be consolidated across the group.

🇨🇳️ A pattern of copyright theft, not accident: the Chinese and international CCTV ecosystem

This is no isolated mistaked. It’s a system.

🟥 CCTV+ distributed our copyrighted Taipei sequence inside the PLA Propaganda Video — similar to ↗️Reuters, which made the Chinese Military Propaganda Video — containing our U.S. Copyright Office-registered footageavailable through its commercial Reuters Connect platform, later defending the use as “Fair Use.” (See related article: ↗️Reuters’ ‘Epic Fail’ and the Human Cost of Copyright Theft.)
🟥 CCTV repeatedly used multiple works of ours without permission.
🟥 New example (Macau) below: our likewise U.S.-registered Macau footage appeared in this CCTV upload on the main CCTV channel (CCTV中国中央电视台), which already had 3 million+ subscribers at the time of publication.
🟥 When caught on infringements, CCTV filed sworn DMCA counter-notifications to revive its terminated channel @CCTVCH — documentation of this misrepresentation is published at ↗️CopyCatTV.com.

🐾 This is mass-scale, repeat copyright infringement by the Chinese State Broadcaster — with platform abuse layered on top.

⏭️️️ What we’re doing next

🟥 Proceeding with consolidated litigation in the United States, with additional jurisdictions reserved.
🟥 Preserving every instance of misuse for damage assessment.
🟥 Continuing to publish this evidence so creators and journalists can track the pattern, and so platforms recognize the legal risk of reinstating content without valid licenses.

👉 Summary of the Article

CGTN publicly released a Culture Atlas episode about Suriname using One Man Wolf Pack’s U.S.-registered drone footage without any authorization. After admitting to the unauthorized use and expressing willingness to “purchase the rights,” CGTN ceased communication entirely when informed the settlement must cover the detected CCTV and CCTV+ infringements as well.

Evidence of the infringement, CGTN’s written admission, and CCTV’s DMCA misrepresentation have been fully preserved under ISO-compliant digital forensics.

Consolidated lawsuits will be filed in the United States, with additional venues reserved.
