About Balneario Camboriu: Balneário Camboriú is a major beach resort city in the Brazilian southern state of Santa Catarina. The city, with its steep hills dropping down to the sea, is popular amongst South Americans. The main ocean boulevard is called Avenida Atlântica (Atlantic Avenue). Balneário Camboriú is famous for the cable car which (uniquely in the world) links the citys central beach and the beach of Laranjeiras. The city is located 10 km (6.2 mi) south of the city of Itajaí, 96 km (60 mi) south of the city of Joinville, and 80 km (50 mi) north of the state capital, Florianópolis. The city has a population of 145,796 (2020 census office estimate), which swells to over one million in the summer. // Balneário Camboriú é um município brasileiro localizado no litoral norte do estado de Santa Catarina, Região Sul do país. Pertence à Região Metropolitana da Foz do Rio Itajaí e encontra-se a cerca de 80 km da capital do estado, Florianópolis. A cidade, com suas colinas íngremes que caem até o mar, é popular entre os sul-americanos. A principal avenida beira-mar é a Avenida Atlântica e seu famoso teleférico liga a praia central da cidade à praia de Laranjeiras. Sua população estimada em 2018 era de 138 732 habitantes, porém pode chegar a mais de um milhão durante o verão. Em uma reportagem publicada no final de fevereiro de 2012 pela revista Forbes sobre a ascensão da música eletrônica no Brasil, Balneário Camboriú foi classificada como a capital da música eletrônica no país. A cidade também é conhecida pelo apelido de Dubai Brasileira, devido ao alto número de arranha-céus e turistas. A cidade é servida pelo Aeroporto Internacional Ministro Victor Konder, localizado no município adjacente de Navegantes. A Ilha das Cabras é um importante ponto turístico e as travessias para a praia próxima de Laranjeiras ocorrem a bordo de navios semelhantes às embarcações piratas do século XVII, que dão uma volta à ilha antes de retornar novamente a Balneário Camboriú. A cidade também tem uma estátua semelhante ao Cristo Redentor no Rio de Janeiro, chamado Cristo Luz, mas com algumas diferenças: é um pouco menor que o Redentor e retrata Jesus com uma com um círculo no ombro esquerdo, simbolizando o Sol, que abriga um holofote que brilha para toda a cidade. About Riga: Riga, Latvias capital, is set on the Baltic Sea at the mouth of the River Daugava. Its considered a cultural center and is home to many museums and concert halls.
