About Nuuk: Nuuk is the capital and largest city of Greenland. It is the seat of government and the countrys largest cultural and economic centre. The major cities closest to the capital are Iqaluit and St. Johns in Canada and Reykjavík in Iceland. Nuuk contains almost a third of Greenlands population and its tallest building. Nuuk is also the seat of government for the Sermersooq municipality. In January 2020, it had a population of 18,326. // Greenland is the worlds largest island, located between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans, east of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. It is an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. Though physiographically a part of the continent of North America, Greenland has been politically and culturally associated with Europe (specifically Norway and Denmark, the colonial powers, as well as the nearby island of Iceland) for more than a millennium. About Longyearbyen: Longyearbyen is a small coal-mining town on Spitsbergen Island, in Norways Svalbard archipelago. This Arctic town is known for its views of the Northern Lights. The modern Svalbard Museum chronicles the regions natural and cultural history. It includes a stuffed polar bear. Live bears can occasionally be seen in the area. The North Pole Expeditions Museum recounts early efforts to reach the pole by air. Longyearbyen is on Adventfjorden Bay, which can be crossed by boat to reach Hiorthfjellet Mountains trails. Nearby, the Gruve 3 coal mine depicts Svalbards mining history. The underground Svalbard Global Seed Vault preserves backups of the worlds seeds in the name of food security. Husky-dog sleds and snowmobiles set off from Longyearbyen for trips farther afield to places like Isfjord Radio, a former transmission station with views overlooking the Arctic Ocean. About Tehran: The Tehran Metro (Persian: مترو تهران, romanized: Metro-ye Tehrān) is a rapid transit system serving Tehran, the capital of Iran. Tehrans is one of the busiest metros in the Middle East. The system is owned and operated by Tehran Urban and Suburban Railway. It consists of 6 operational metro lines (and an additional commuter rail line), with construction under way on three lines including west extension of line 4, line 6 and north and east extension line 7. The Tehran Metro carries more than 3 million passengers a day. In 2014, 815 million trips were made on Tehran Metro. As of 2019, the total system was 229 kilometers (142 mi) long, 186 kilometers (116 mi) of which is metro-grade rail. It is planned to have a length of 430 kilometers (270 mi) with 9 lines once all construction is complete by 2025. On all days of the week, the Metro service runs from approximately 05:30 to 23:00. The line uses standard gauge and is mostly underground. Ticket price is 1000 Iranian Toman for each journey (about US$0.25), regardless of the distance traveled, but using prepaid tickets costs much less. Seniors may travel for free on the metro. About Brasilia: The avenue begins on the National Congress of Brazil building and is considered part of the DF-002 road. Its first section is known as Ministries Esplanade (Esplanada dos Ministérios), as it is surrounded by ministries buildings. Many important government buildings, monuments and memorials are located on the Monumental Axis. // O Eixo Monumental é uma avenida que se localiza no centro do Plano Piloto de Brasília, capital do Brasil. É conhecido popularmente como o corpo do avião. Estende-se por dezesseis quilômetros, fazendo a ligação entre a Rodoferroviária de Brasília (a oeste) e a Praça dos Três Poderes (a leste). // Brasília, inaugurated as Brazils capital in 1960, is a planned city distinguished by its white, modern architecture, chiefly designed by Oscar Niemeyer. Laid out in the shape of an airplane, its fuselage is the Monumental Axis, 2 wide avenues flanking a massive park. In the cockpit is Praça dos Três Poderes, named for the 3 branches of government surrounding it. The iconic Congreso Nacional features 2 domed chambers split by twin towers.
