About San Salvador: Estadio Nacional Jorge El Mágico González in San Salvador, El Salvador, is a legendary and historically rich football stadium, named in honor of the nations most iconic player, Jorge El Mágico González. Originally opened in 1935 under the name Estadio Nacional Flor Blanca, the stadium was constructed for the 1935 Central American and Caribbean Games and quickly became a central fixture in Salvadoran sport. The venue underwent significant modernization before the 2002 Games, doubling its capacity and installing one of Central Americas most advanced Tartan athletics tracks. In 2006, it was fittingly renamed to celebrate El Salvadors beloved football legend. A latest renovation completed in 2023 brought a complete overhaul—updated seating and stands, modern lighting and sound systems, a new museum honoring El Mágico, improved VIP zones, retail areas, and enhanced energy and water efficiency. With a capacity of approximately 30,000 spectators, the stadium regularly hosts matches for the El Salvador national football team, top local clubs like Alianza F.C. and Atlético Marte, plus athletics events, concerts, and large-scale cultural gatherings. It also played a prominent role during the opening and athletics competitions of the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, reaffirming its status as a multi-functional national sports hub. Whether youre a football fan tracing history, attending a concert, or just soaking in the heritage of Salvadoran sports, Estadio Nacional Jorge El Mágico González stands as a vibrant symbol of national pride and ongoing legacy.
