Liberia Drone Flight: Monrovia is the capital city of the West African country of Liberia. Located on the Atlantic Coast at Cape Mesurado, Monrovia had a population of 1,010,970 as of the 2008 census. With 29% of the total population of Liberia, Monrovia is the countrys most populous city. Founded on April 25, 1822, Monrovia was the second permanent Black American settlement in Africa after Freetown, Sierra Leone. Monrovias economy is shaped primarily by its harbour and its role as the location of Liberias government offices. // Liberia is a country in West Africa, bordering Sierra Leone, Guinea and Côte dIvoire. On the Atlantic coast, the capital city of Monrovia is home to the Liberia National Museum, with its exhibits on national culture and history. Around Monrovia are palm-lined beaches like Silver and CeCe. Along the coast, beach towns include the port of Buchanan, as well as laid-back Robertsport, known for its strong surf. In the northeast, the Nimba mountain range straddles the borders of Liberia, Côte dIvoire and Guinea, and is dominated by the towering Mount Nimba. Near the northern city of Gbarnga, trails lead through the jungle to the multi-tiered Kpatawee Waterfall. In the south are the rainforest and wetlands of biodiverse Sapo National Park, which shelter elephants, hippos and chimpanzees. At the countrys far southern tip, the grand architecture in the seaside town of Harper recalls more prosperous days prior to Liberias civil war.
