About Port of Spain: Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, is the nations flagship sporting arena and a symbol of athletic pride. Opened in June 1982, it was originally named the National Stadium before being renamed in 2001 to honor Hasely Joachim Crawford, Trinidad and Tobagos first Olympic gold medalist in the 100 meters. With a seating capacity of around 23,000 to 27,000 and natural grass, the stadium serves as home to the Trinidad and Tobago national football team—the Soca Warriors—as well as prominent domestic clubs like Defence Force F.C., San Juan Jabloteh, Police F.C., La Horquetta Rangers, and Morvant Caledonia United. More than a football venue, Hasely Crawford Stadium doubles as a top-level athletics arena, hosting track and field competitions—and has been a key host for major international events, including the 2001 FIFA U-17 World Championship, the 2010 FIFA U-17 Womens World Cup, and the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games athletics and opening ceremony. Its flexible infrastructure also welcomes other sports, concerts, community fetes, and large-scale cultural gatherings, making it a lively heartbeat of Trinidad and Tobagos sports and entertainment scene.
