Chicago: The Chicago L (short for elevated) is the rapid transit system serving the city of Chicago and some of its surrounding suburbs in the U.S. state of Illinois. Operated by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), it is the fourth-largest rapid transit system in the United States in terms of total route length, at 102.8 miles (165.4 km) long as of 2014, and the third-busiest rail mass transit system in the United States, after the New York City Subway and the Washington Metro. In 2016, the L had 1,492 rail cars, eight different routes, and 145 train stations; average weekday ridership was 759,866. The L provides 24-hour service on the Red and Blue Lines and is one of only five rapid transit systems in the United States to do so. The oldest sections of the Chicago L started operations in 1892, making it the second-oldest rapid transit system in the Americas, after New York Citys elevated lines. The L has been credited with fostering the growth of Chicagos dense city core that is one of the citys distinguishing features. It consists of eight rapid transit lines laid out in a spoke–hub distribution paradigm focusing transit towards the Loop. The L gained its name because large parts of the system run on elevated track. However, portions of the network are also in subway tunnels, at grade level, or in open cuts. Halong Bay Drone Flight: Ha Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and popular travel destination in Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam. The name Hạ Long means descending dragon. Administratively, the bay belongs to Ha Long City, Cam Pha City, and is a part of Van Don District. The bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various shapes and sizes. Ha Long Bay is a center of a larger zone which includes Bai Tu Long Bay to the northeast, and Cat Ba Island to the southwest. Great Wall Drone Flight: The Great Wall of China is a series of fortifications made of stone, brick, tamped earth, wood, and other materials, generally built along an east-to-west line across the historical northern borders of China to protect the Chinese states and empires against the raids and invasions of the various nomadic groups of the Eurasian Steppe. Pernambuco Drone Flight: Pernambuco is a state in northeast Brazil, on the Atlantic Ocean. Its modern capital, Recife, features a port, old town and popular beach area of Boa Viagem. Offshore, the volcanic archipelago of Fernando de Noronha has a jagged coastline, undeveloped beaches and a marine park. South of Recife, reef-protected Porto de Galinhas beach offers natural pools. North lies Olinda, a colonial town amid lush vegetation. Pernambuco stretches west across 3 geographical zones: the humid coastal region, with beaches and dense forests; the drier agreste region, with sweeping fields and farmlands; and, farthest inland, the semi-arid sertão, with towering plateaus. The agreste is home to the riverfront city of Caruaru. Rio Grande do Norte Drone Flight: Rio Grande do Norte is a state on Brazils far northeastern tip. The capital, Natal, lies on a beach-lined coast that harbors the star-shaped Forte dos Reis Magos, a 16th-century Portuguese fort. Ponta Negra is a beach framed by the towering Morro do Careca dune, a symbol of the city. To the south, Pipa Beach is a well-known resort with surfing and dolphins. Natals Via Costeira is a coastal road passing the citys expansive Dunas Park, a nature reserve with giant dunes and Atlantic Forest trails. To the north, offshore coral reefs such as the Parrachos Maracajaú draw snorkelers. Down the coast, the Cajueiro do Pirangi is an enormous cashew tree, touted as the worlds largest. Natal Drone Flight: Natal is the capital city of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, on Brazils northeastern tip. Its known for its extensive coastal sand dunes and star-shaped Forte dos Reis Magos, a 16th-century Portuguese fortress at the mouth of the Potengi River. North across the river, Genipabu is an area of towering dunes with a freshwater lagoon. The Via Costeira highway links a 15km stretch of beaches south of the fort. Local companies offer beach buggy tours of the coast. The Parque das Dunas reserve encompasses dunes and native Atlantic forest. Southerly Ponta Negra is a 3km beach with hotels, pousadas (guesthouses) and bars, and the 100m-high Morro do Careca dune, a symbol of the city. The 19th-century Palácio Potengi (governors palace) in the hilltop Cidade Alta district now exhibits local art. Recife Drone Flight: Recife, the capital of Brazils northeastern state of Pernambuco, is distinguished by its many rivers, bridges, islets and peninsulas. Recife Antigo, on its own island by the harbor, is the historic old town center dating to the 16th century. To its south, popular Boa Viagem Beach is sheltered by reefs and lined by tall apartment blocks, modern hotels and restaurants. Recife was founded by the Portuguese at a spot marked on Marco Zero plaza. Nearby, Rua do Bom Jesus is a cobbled street with colorful houses and Kahal Zur Israel, thought to be the first synagogue in the Americas. Cais do Sertão museum focuses on Northeast Brazils culture and semi-arid landscape. Dutch colonial influences can be found at the 1630 Cinco Pontas Fort and Ricardo Brennand Institute, which has a large collection of European artist Frans Posts paintings. Rio de Janeiro: Rio de Janeiro is a huge seaside city in Brazil, famed for its Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, 38m Christ the Redeemer statue atop Mount Corcovado and for Sugarloaf Mountain, a granite peak with cable cars to its summit. The city is also known for its sprawling favelas (shanty towns). Its raucous Carnaval festival, featuring parade floats, flamboyant costumes and samba dancers, is considered the worlds largest. Sporting pursuits include volleyball on Ipanema Beach, surfing at Arpoador and paragliding from the lofty Pedra Bonita viewpoint. Sandy beaches stretch from Guanabara Bay to Barra in the west, all of them with cycle tracks and kiosks selling coconut water. Tijuca National Park features rainforest-covered mountains filled with waterfalls, hiking trails and toucans. Samba, forró and bossa nova bands perform in the bars of the Lapa area. Modern art is exhibited at Museu de Arte Moderna and Museu de Arte do Rio.
