In 2019, Miroslaw Wawak made a deeply contemplative journey into Syria, a country rebuilding from conflict but still home to one of the richest cultural legacies on Earth. In Damascus, he walked through the legendary Old City, past ancient mosques, hidden courtyards, and narrow alleys filled with the scent of spices and soap. He encountered people with stories of survival, strength, and hope, and was moved by the enduring warmth of Syrian hospitality despite the country's challenges. Syria offered a complex, emotional, and powerful experience—one that reminded him of the enduring spirit of culture, community, and faith in even the hardest of times.
